Dear Scott Elementary School Community,

I am pleased to share that Kelli Westry has been named Interim Principal of Scott Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year.

Mrs. Westry brings a strong record of instructional leadership, school systems development, and student-centered decision-making to Scott Elementary. She began her career as an elementary educator, teaching 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades, and has since served students and families across elementary, middle, and high school settings.

Most recently, Mrs. Westry has provided important leadership as Assistant Principal at Jenkins Middle School, where she has supported instructional improvement, professional learning, student intervention systems, special education and MTSS structures, assessment coordination, and master scheduling. She has also helped lead through significant school transitions, including the relocation of Jenkins students and staff and their return to the Jenkins campus. Throughout these efforts, she has remained focused on academic growth, consistency for students, and strong collaboration with staff.

Mrs. Westry is known as a thoughtful, steady, and capable leader who understands the importance of high-quality instruction, strong relationships, and a positive school culture. We are confident she will provide Scott Elementary with strong leadership and continuity during the upcoming school year.

District 11 will begin the search process for the next permanent principal of Scott Elementary School in February. That process will include opportunities for community input, and we will share more information with Scott families and staff as details become available.

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Westry to Scott Elementary School. We look forward to a successful and inspiring year ahead for Scott students, staff, and families.

Sincerely,
Darren Joiner
Northeast Area Superintendent
Colorado Springs School District 11
